3RVS CARES - for Heart of the City

Written by Mona Will, January 2019

Heart of the City is a local not for profit organization that provides services for the underserved in our community. A few of our members volunteer their time to help with the program that repairs donated bikes so that they are in working order for people to have and use.

Kymberly Byers is one of those that volunteers. She is asking members to bring canned food items/non-perishables to the upcoming winter party. These items will be used to restock the food bank at Heart of the City. Every contribution will be appreciated whether it is one can of soup or a box filled with needed items.

In the spirit of 3RVS CARES and our club’s mission statement we are a membership that encourages and supports riding in all forms. For most of us riding is a leisure event. For others it is an enjoyable way to get to and from work knowing the convenience and comfort of a vehicle will get us around should the weather turn bad. For the people that Heart of the City serves, bikes are their vehicles. Bikes are used year around no matter the weather. It is a way for a child to get to and from school or a reliable way to get to church, doctor appointments, or to pick up food at the food bank.

Kymberly will have a donation area set up at the party and everything collected that evening will be taken to Heart of the City. The food drive is active from January 10th through February 14th. Should you not be able to make it to the party but are moved to donate, there are additional collection locations.
