The 2015 Three Rivers Velo Sport September Touring Challenge Powered by Strava

How many kilometers can you ride in September? Keep in mind that One mile equals 1.609 kilometers so the numbers will add up fast in this challenge. Our Three Rivers Velo Sport, Touring Division site on the popular training site Strava is already in place. Membership to Strava is free. Awards will be presented at our annual holiday party to club members who join this club challenge and log their cycling distance on Strava. Awards will be presented to 3RVS members who bicycle 500, 750, 1000, 1610 kilometers during September 2015.

The TT on July 23rd has been canceled - BUT - we are having one on July 30th. 

The time trial course will move  to a *NEW* course on Old 24 and 101. Old 24 is nice and smooth. The course is 5 miles out and back. The turn around will be at the Antwerp sign and will be manned by an Ohio Police Officer. To give you a few more minutes to get there we will start at 6:30PM.

Parking will be on old 24 but really off to the grass. NO RESTROOMS.
Any 3RVS member can come out and do our time trials. 

Sweetwater Ride Notes

A few notes for those meeting up for the weekend tour at Sweetwater this Saturday. We’ll park and gather near the Service entrance in the front - not the main entrance, but the entrance midway down the building under the Sweetwater sign (let’s park away from the building please). The building will already be open (it will open at 8am). I’m sure that Sweetwater’s maintenance staff would appreciate it if we take off our road shoes rather than scuffing up the floors.

Restrooms, water, and wi-fi are all available, as are refreshments available for purchase, including bottled beverages (milk, juice, sports drinks, energy drinks, iced tea), fountain drinks, bananas, a small variety of candy / trail mix / granola bars, yogurt, etc.

There is also a coffee shop / cafe (the Crescendo Cafe), which will be open from 8am-5pm. They have espresso and coffee drinks (they actually use a very cool high-end espresso “Modbar” system that was invented right here in Fort Wayne), as well as protein “Fit Frapps” (130 calories and 21 grams of protein) greek yogurt parfaits, muffins, bagels, and pastries.

While there is a cafeteria on site (the Downbeat Diner), it won’t be serving breakfast. It will, however, be open with a short-order menu from 11am-4pm in case you’re hungry after your ride.

Checkout in the diner is self-service, and much easier if you’re paying via a credit card, so you may want to bring a card instead of cash.
